Philippe Corthout (°1981)

I am an architectural photographer based in Belgium. With a background in graphic design, my practice gradually evolved toward photography, where I developed a strong and lasting focus on architecture, interiors, and documentary work. This graphic foundation continues to inform my photographic approach, shaping my attention to composition, structure, and visual clarity.

My work is driven by a sustained interest in the built environment and the ways in which architecture frames everyday life. I primarily work on commission for architects, interior designers, construction professionals, and artists working within the fields of architecture and scenography.

I aim to photograph buildings, spaces, and structures in a natural and attentive way, allowing light, material, and proportion to guide the image. Rather than imposing a strong stylistic gesture, my approach is rooted in observation and restraint. My photographs seek to convey not only form, but also atmosphere, context, and the lived experience of being within a space.

Alongside commissioned work, I continue to observe and document the everyday and the unexpected within the urban landscape. These personal explorations inform my commissioned practice, sharpening my awareness of detail, rhythm, and the quiet moments that often define a place.
